The Mayflower Hotel is a Victorian townhouse property, which dates from 1900. Its interior displays intriguing Oriental touches throughout. The lobby is smartly appointed, with a grey marble floor, a black, marble-topped reception desk and a compact seating area composed of leather sofas. Elsewhere, the hallways and stairwells are hung with wooden Indian window frames and carved mirrors. Of the 48 guestrooms, the luxury rooms are decorated with Oriental antiques, while the standard rooms – though much simpler – have good linens on comfortable beds and large Victorian sash windows, which play a clever part in making you think they're larger than they really are. Each en suite bathroom is designed in richly coloured marbles and slates with chrome Grohe fittings, superb walk-in showers, the finest soft towels and complimentary Aromatherapy bath products. Inspired by Harry's Bar in New York, the hotel’s Lounge & Juice Bar features creamy marble floors, leather sofas, dark American walnut fittings and original art by Vicky White. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary breakfast in the hotel’s light and spacious restaurant, or even dine in the adjoining tropical garden – a little haven in an urban setting.
