The Base2Stay Hotel – central London's first edited service property – is situated next to Kensington Garden Square and housed in a classic, white stucco, mews townhouse. “Edited service” means that it offers a synthesis of boutique and budget hotel experiences, providing greater flexibility than standard serviced apartments, with the accent on providing freedom of choice for every guest. The 67 apartments comprise 17 singles, 4 bunk beds, 11 standard doubles, 17 double/twins, 13 superior and 4 deluxe. All are snug but well designed in a contemporary style, with oak-finished desks, camel-wool windowpane-check curtains, cocoa brown wall-to-wall carpeting, beds with crisp white cotton duvets, and tidy kitchenettes. The ‘base directory’ – an in-room information guide – not only explains how the air-conditioning and free-Internet keyboard work but also offers a comprehensive list of nearby restaurants, bars, and cafés. The bedrooms are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms, which have heated chrome towel racks and large showers; some rooms have a shower aswell as bathtub.
